Donald Baechler is one of America’s most important living artists. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1956 and currently lives and works in New York City. He received his formal education from Staatliche Hochschule für Bildende Kuenste, "Staedelschule," in Frankfurt, Germany (1978-1979), Cooper Union in New York City (1977-1978), and the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore (1974-1977). Mr. Baechler ardently collects work from various cultures and is interested in their different approaches to drawing. His work is represented by Cheim & Read and his print work is represented by Pace Prints. He has been exhibited at Galerie Thaddeus Ropac in Paris, Greenberg Van Doren, and Künsthalle Basel in Basel, Switzerland, among others. He received a special honor in recognition for his longstanding service to ACRIA at the 2008 Holiday Dinner.
