Older adults, people over 50, are one of the fastest growing HIV-positive populations in New York City and across the country. With support from the New York City Council and the New York State Department of Health, ACRIA offers a first-in-the-nation program of HIV training for staff at senior centers and other groups serving older adults in all five boroughs. Through the Initiative, we equip participants to address issues of prevention, treatment, and stigma among this unique population. Participants leave the training prepared to engage their colleagues and key peers among their clients in spreading an age-appropriate prevention message and breaking down the stigma that leads to isolation and threatens effective care for older adults in our community.
