Regional Training Centers

ACRIA serves as one of the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute’s ten Regional Training Centers (RTC). Together, these Centers provide 500 days of training each year to almost 10,000 non-physician health and human service providers all across the state. Based on local demand and ongoing needs assessments, RTCs offer courses from a menu of more than 40 trainings. In addition, each Training Center regularly offers job-specific introductory training for staff who serve as community HIV/AIDS educators, HIV test counselors, outreach managers, substance abuse counselors, case managers, and nurses. RTCs are uniquely positioned to provide training on new state regulations that affect people with HIV and the delivery of AIDS services. In addition to those currently available, new courses are constantly being added to the training menu.
